Increased Load Rating (bridge)
Increased Load Rating (bridge)

Most bridges built in the 1940's and 1950's were designed with lighter loads in mind based on the vehicles available at the time.  Today, vehicles are capable of carrying much heavier loads and they need to travel the same bridges built 50 years ago.  Truesdell Corporation works closely with many DOT's to design and improve the load capacities of concrete bridges.  Various repair, restoration and strengthening methods are combined to create a rehabilitated bridge that will  meet today's standards for load rating and safety.  External reinforcing with cFRP (carbon fiber) is often a major component of the strengthening process.
